Our Research Lab


About Us


In our research lab, we investigate the attitudes, behaviours, and experiences of leaders to understand the conditions that facilitate leaders' alignment between their words and actions, and the strategies leaders use to effectively communicate with their workers. 
We also study the attitudes, behaviours, and experiences of workers that are often overlooked, including workers with disabilities, women in the workplace, and East Asian workers. By understanding the workplace barriers that these groups encounter as well as the HR processes that can enhance their employment outcomes, we focus on how these workers can gain meaningful and competitive employment. 
We answer questions like: 
  • What workplace conditions best encourage leaders to align their words with their actions?
  • How do leaders communicate with their workers to create trusting environments?  
  • How can employees with disabilities gain meaningful work and thrive in the workplace? 
  • How can HR policies and processes enhance women’s employment experiences? 
  • What are the workplace barriers that East Asian workers face? 
Understanding these workplace dynamics can foster healthier and happier workplaces. We investigate these questions using both qualitative methods, including interviews and focus groups, and quantitative methods, including surveys. 
We have partnered with non-profit, municipal, and federal organizations to conduct this research, and have translated our research findings into practical, data-driven insights for industry partners. As organizational researchers, we are always interested in collaborating with workplaces experiencing organizational challenges related to our Research Areas, or with those seeking to implement evidence-based strategies to enhance their workplace.
